Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Brands Do You Service?

A: All of them! I perform repair and maintenance on almost any brand and model of exercise equipment. I appreciate the opportunity to learn and I’m always intrigued when I run across different models and designs (even though I’ve been doing this since 2009). The residential brands I work on most often would probably be Nordic Track/ProForm and Spirit/Sole since these names are sold by the thousands online and through many sporting and home goods stores. In commercial facilities I see alot of Life Fitness, Cybex, TRUE, Precor, Matrix, Magnum, Hoist, Concept II and Keiser spin bikes.

Q: What’s the Cost For a Typical Repair?

A: For residential customers I use a simple flat-rate system. Most local Grand Rapids area fitness equipment service calls are $97 which includes tune-up, diagnostic, or simple parts installation.

Generally, here's my pricing schedule based on drive time from 49525:

30min drive $130 (Wayland, Holland, Grand Haven, Howard City, Greenville, Middleville)

1hr drive $160 (Kalamazoo, South Haven, Whitehall, Big Rapids, Grand Ledge)

Q: What If You Need To Order Parts and Come Back?

A: Good Question! Here’s a typical situation: Say you live in Grand Rapids and your treadmill powers up but when you press start, the belt doesn’t move. You contact me and I ask a few questions then schedule a service appointment. At the appointment, I test everything and figure out what’s going on then there are three basic directions it could go from there:

1) If it’s something that I can repair on the spot,(like a loose wire) then I’ll go ahead and complete the repair (still just $97)
2) If it needs parts, then I’ll look up parts and let you know pricing and timing for everything. (For example it might need a new controller that costs say $165. I’ll give the option of me ordering the part and returning to install/tune-up for a total of $385 (part, tax, ship, 2 service calls)
3) If the part is easy to install, I’ll give you the option of completing the repair yourself. I’ll show you where to order the part and how to install so you can save the cost of the return service call.

Q: How Does Scheduling Work?

A: You can contact me three different ways:
1) Use the service request form. (my favorite! because I have more info to work with)
2) Call me at 616-378-6688. Phone calls are great too! If I can’t pickup leave a message and I’ll call you back as soon as I’m able.
3) Email me directly at info@WestMichiganFitnessService.com. The best option if you need to send me pictures or videos.

My schedule normally fills up 1-2 weeks in advance. I’ll give you a 1-hr arrival window and will send a confirmation email upon scheduling and again the day before the service appointment. Then I’ll call when I’m on the way the day of the appointment to give you a more precise ETA.

Q: Can I text you?

A: I find that phone or email is much more effective for most communication regarding fitness equipment repair.

Q: What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?

A: I accept cash, check, Venmo, and Cash App. You can also pay with credit card, just add 3% to the total.
